If we are going to be women who build the lives of those around us, then, I believe we must embrace and live according to Philippians 4: 8. Here, we are told to think on things that are true, honest, and just, things that are pure and lovely, and of a good report; if there is any virtue, and anything praise-worthy, these are the things we should think about.
God does seem to make it very clear what He wants us to be thinking about. We really cannot build anything right unless our hearts and our minds are first right and in-line with God’s heart and Word.
When you think about relationships in your life, such as your husband, your family, your church, your job, or even yourself, what is the first thing you think about? For many, they automatically think about everything that is wrong and all the things that need to be worked on.
When we focus on and exalt everything that’s wrong, we give place to the enemy of our souls, both in our own lives and in the situation. Sadly, through the years I have seen marriages, relationships, and organizations destroyed because of this one thing.
What God desires is for us to find and focus on the praise-worthy things in our husbands, our families, our churches, and those around us, and begin speaking about and celebrating those things.
Part 2 next week...
Closing Prayer
Father, thank you for your Word, which is life to us! We pray that you would help us to exercise self control and think on good and lovely things in line with your Holy Word. Help us to sincerely celebrate and focus on the great things in the lives of the ones we love. Every day, help us to build the lives of all those around us!
HAVE A GLORIOUS DAY!
