Capturing the Heart of God! July 21, 2009

It was over a year ago, when we first came across the following soul-stirring message by David Wilkerson. Then again, recently we were reintroduced to parts of this message, with the following video.

Perhaps you have already seen this, but we believe it's worth seeing and hearing again. This is such a powerful and important message, that seems to go so well with PRAY, AMERICA, PRAY! Effectual Prayer (James 5:16b) is often born out of a depths of one's heart, joined and stirred from God's heart...as described in David Wilkerson's message "A Call to Anguish"...may you never be the same...

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us* with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:26

CAPTURING THE HEART OF GOD:
There is nothing more beautiful and powerful than those moments when we truly capture the heart of God in our prayers. When we do, our prayers become so rich and deep, and real. We know that God himself is listening and moving by His Spirit!

APPROACHING THE THRONE OF GOD!
Many times in the different movements throughout the church, there can be such an emphasis on just speaking forth the Word of God, that we forget prayer is much more than just calling forth the will of God into the earth. It is also a crying out. We must ask ourselves as we pray, have I captured the heart of the Father! Am I praying in line with His will and purposes? Holy Scripture does tell us to come boldly to the Throne of Grace with faith, and yet at the same time, He wants us to come with great humility and a great sensitivity so we can pray in line with His will, and not according to our own.

DIFFERENT KINDS OF PRAYER:
When we study prayer throughout God’s Holy Word, we find there are different kinds of prayer. And as we are led by the Holy Spirit in our praying, at times we will be speaking forth the Word of God, or praying the prayer of faith, at times spiritual warefare, and at other times we will be praying prayers of great intercession, with deep anguish, with brokenness and with groanings of the Spirit of God that cannot be uttered. These are the earth shaking prayers that I believe release the deep works of God in our world and in the lives and souls of mankind.

Ephesians 6:18 says, "Praying always with all prayer and supplications in the spirit"
Prayer of Agreement. Prayer of Supplication.
Romans 8:26 – 27, Mark 11:20 – 25, Luke 11: 9 - 13, Acts 12: 1 – 18, Matthew 9: 18 - 26

PRAYERS OF ANGUISH
To many in the church, these deep prayers of anguish and intercession are foreign. Praying at this level  I believe can only be done through a truly surrendered heart and life, one of brokenness before God. As Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane. A full release of His will to the will of the Father. it’s a time when the deep places in the heart of God are being revealed to us.
